Heres What Landscapers Coach Can Do for Your Business

I receive many enquiries every month from landscaping, design, and horticulture business owners asking about my services. I’m often asked if I can help with issues they encounter in running their businesses, including:

  • How to make better profits without having to work so hard.
  • How to get a better understanding of financial info.
  • How to create a better quoting system.
  • How to create a better project management system.
  • How to better manage employees and contractors.
  • How to find and retain key employees.
  • How to find more time in each day.
  • How to take their business to the next level.
  • How to create better systems and processes.

After you first make contact with me, I will set up a time for us to chat for 20-30 minutes, to see if we are a good fit to work together. It’s important for you to have a chance to assess me and see if I have the right approach for you and your business. And in turn, I like to see if your goals and objectives are feasible, and if we can make this a successful relationship.

If we both feel we should get into a more detailed discussion, where you can see how I work and how I would go about solving your issues and helping you achieve your goals, we set up a time and chat over Zoom.

This is where I’ll ask you some key questions about your business. I’ll also ask you to email me your last 6 months P&L and will complete an analysis. A P&L can tell me if your Landscape Design, Construction, or Maintenance business is achieving the optimal critical percentages in the 4 main areas: site wages, material costs, subcontractor costs, and overheads.

Some of the key questions we will address over Zoom are:

  • What areas, processes, or habits frustrate you at the moment?
  • What areas do you want to improve?
  • How many employees/subcontractors do you have?
  • Where do most of your leads come from?
  • What systems are working well?

With each problem area, I will explain how I will help you fix the issue by giving a detailed explanation of the right process or approach and showing you the template(s) to use in order to achieve each goal.

By asking these specific questions, I can identify the key areas that need improving within your business and help to highlight where you could be making changes or approaching things differently.

A business owner tells me that they want to make more profit and increase their wage. My response is to take them to their P&L that I have previously analysed and show them which costs are higher than they should be. I will show them a table that highlights the 4 major expenses, and what percentage they should be. Then, I explain the process we will go through to fix this problem and increase profit. We will set up the quoting sheet (theirs or mine) with all of the correct costs (employee, materials, equipment, etc), and we will set mark-ups and charge out rates to what they should be.

The second part of the solution is refining or setting up the Project Management System. Each project needs to be completed with a similar or better profit than what was quoted, so we work at making that a reality.

When you begin working with me, we create a plan – prioritising your concerns and dealing with those first, but also working on the longer term (12+ months) goals. When new issues arise, they can be dealt with immediately, (my clients can call me for help any weekday). Otherwise, we talk on Zoom once or twice a month, working through our agreed monthly list.

Every one of the eight key areas of business (Leadership, Money, Quoting, Project Management, Team, Sales, Marketing, and Recruitment) should have a simple yet effective process attached. You are not locked in for any period of time and are free to leave my coaching program at any time. This gives you freedom and makes me accountable.

No. All my clients have a business to run, so we always set at a comfortable pace for each individual owner.

The information my clients learn about their business – financial, quoting, time management, people management, marketing, progressive thinking, and sales – all transform their thinking and how they run their business moving forward, enabling them to finally achieve their goals. You can find some of my previous and current clients and what they have to say about my program here.

I hope this article answers some of the questions you may have about Landscapers Coach. If you’d like a chat with me about any area of your business (small or large), send me an email or a text message.
